How to play

OBJECTIVE

The goal of the game is to reach 10 points before any other player. Points are earned by building houses, upgrading them into cities, obtaining certain development cards, and achieving special milestones such as having the longest road or the largest army.

GAME SETUP

Each player starts with two houses and two roads placed on the game board. Houses must be placed at the intersections of hexagonal resource tiles and cannot be directly adjacent to another house. Roads must extend from an existing house. Players also begin with a set of resource cards based on the tiles surrounding their second house.

TURN STRUCTURE

Each turn consists of the following phases:
Rolling the dice: The sum of the two dice determines which resource tiles produce resources for nearby settlements. The closer a sum is to 7, the more frequently it is rolled.
Collecting resources: Players with houses or cities adjacent to the producing tiles collect the corresponding resources. Cities collect double the resources of houses.
Trading: Players can trade resources with each other or use the trade button to exchange resources with ports or the bank. Ports offer better exchange rates when a house is built on their marked corners.
Building and buying: Players can spend resources to build roads, houses, cities, or purchase development cards. Houses must be built on roads and cannot be adjacent to another house. Cities can only be built by upgrading an existing house.

THE NINJA

When a 7 is rolled, the ninja is activated instead of regular resource collection. The player who rolled the 7 gets to move the ninja to any resource tile, blocking it from producing resources until it is moved again. The player also steals one resource from a player with a house or city adjacent to the blocked tile. Additionally, any player with more than seven resource cards must discard half of their hand.

BUILDING AND EXPANSION

Players can build various structures using collected resources:

Roads: Allow for expansion and must be connected to an existing house or road.

Houses: Worth 1 point and generate resources. Must be built on an available intersection along a road and not adjacent to another house.

Cities: Worth 2 points and double resource collection. Built by upgrading an existing house.

Development Cards: Offer special abilities such as building free roads, moving the Ninja, or gaining points.

SPECIAL BONUSES

Longest Road: The player with the longest continuous road of at least five segments earns 2 points.

Largest Clan: The player who plays the most samurais development cards (minimum of three) gains 2 points.

WINNING

The first player to reach 10 points wins immediately. Points come from houses (1 point each), cities (2 points each), certain development cards, and special bonuses.
